How to love your OTI sweater
When reading this, you might have bought an Oti knitted sweater or you’re about to do so.

Please know our knit sweaters are delicate as they are made of high quality wool. And they require extra care. Washing them the wrong way can result in a disaster. We have run some tests and ended up with, let us say, unusable and damaged products. No more softness and definitely 'Honey I shrunk your precious sweater" situations. You might have experienced some laundry failures yourself.

To prevent this from happening, we want to inform you as good as we can so there are no unforeseen surprises.

If there are no stains, there is no need for washing your sweater at all. Let the fresh air outside work its magic as it is your best soap.

This is kids we are talking about. So, there is a good chance that your product needs to be washed because of stains. Don't put it in the washing machine too fast, try to get the stain(s) out first by using a wet towel or by a gentle hand wash (cold water up to 20°).

If you do prefer to use the washing machine, it is possible and not completely forbidden, but be aware that the wrong usage can really damage your product. Also you know your machine best, so it is completely up to you if you want to take the risk. Please follow some ground rules when it comes to machine washing your Oti knits:

1. Keep white, beige, natural colors separate from any other colors.
2. Use a wool program (cold water up to 20° and no spin).
3. Use a soap that is suitable for wool (no fabric softener or bleach).
4. Don't put too many clothes in the machine at the same time.
5. Preferably use a delicates washing bag.

Even when following these ground rules, a small shrinkage is always possible as merino wool is a natural yarn. So the less you need to wash your sweater, the better (read: keep it away from tomato soup as far as you can).

After washing it, don't put your knit sweater in the dryer. This can also cause shrinkage. Don't let it dry outside directly in the sun. Dry flat by preference.
Please note that as we use 100% wool, pilling might occur and is completely natural.
The softer the yarn, the more pilling might occur.
